President's message

CPWA Manitoba Chapter 2021 Golf Tournament

Our tournament brought together about 80 people to the Bridges golf course in Starbuck, MB. We had a couple of postponements due to the pandemic but eventually we played on September 16th. The rain showers were disappointing but the enthusiasm from the participants kept them warm, or close to being warm. It was exciting to actually have an indoor dinner with everyone joining in and the chef and staff at Bridges did an amazing job of providing an excellent meal for us all to enjoy.

All golfers were able to take home a prize and the other contests brought huge smiles to the winner’s faces. The winning team was Shane Cooper, Ryan Slagerman, Geoff Bryant and Angela Martyshuk. It was Angela’s first tournament and I believe by her winning the trophy and receiving an enormous amount of money for the win she has lost her amateur status and is now in the Pro League. Congratulations Angela.

The other winners, of course, are the students at Red River College. Our tournament is in support of the students and they are appreciating it even more with the Covid 19 pandemic.

Thank you to all of you for your support and participation.

Hope to see you again next year with the sunshine.

Cheers,

Steve Blayney, President

Manitoba Chapter, Canadian Public Works Association (CPWA)
