About the Goldeyes, Redhawks and Northern League:

The Winnipeg Goldeyes are a professional baseball team in the Northern League, which is not affiliated with Major League Baseball. From the 1999 season to the present, the Goldeyes have played their home games at what is now named Canwest Park. The team is named after the Winnipeg goldeye, a local fish delicacy made up of smoked goldeye.

The visiting Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks have made it to the playoffs 12 of 13 seasons, won three Northern League titles, and were named Baseball America’s Independent Team of the Decade during the 90’s.

The Northern League exists so that professional baseball players who are not signed by a Major or Minor League organization could have another chance at playing at a higher level. Although the level of Northern League play can be categorized as between A and AA, players in independent baseball are usually not scouted heavily by Major League teams. Many Major League alumni have called Northern League teams home in an effort get back to the Majors.

Vibrant, sophisticated, and elegant, Hu's is a relaxed environment perfect for sharing food, drinks, and good conversation.

The concepts, techniques, and recipes of our cuisine are deeply rooted in the rich, ancient tradition of Asian culture.

Good food has been an important part of the Asian dining experience for thousands of years. It is common practice for friends and family to gather around the dinner table and share their favourite dishes and stories. For Hu’s, food is more than a passion, it is an obsession, and good eating, we believe, is essential to good living.

About Canwest Park:

If you are one of the more-than two million baseball fans to have visited Canwest Park, then you already know what a gem this facility is. Opened in June of 1999, the home of the Winnipeg Goldeyes has received rave reviews as not only a great place to watch some Northern League action, but also as the site of numerous functions, concerts and other sporting events, including the baseball competition at the XIII Pan Am Games.

From the great food at the concessions to the great seats that overlook the field, this state-of-the-art ballpark provides all the amenities of a first-class facility.

Located north of The Forks and just a fly ball from the renowned intersection of Portage and Main, Canwest Park is equally accessible to vehicles and pedestrians alike. Its central location means fans will be able to arrive for the opening pitch and get home after the final pitch with little or no difficulty. That is, of course, if they choose to go home.

With both the historic Exchange District and St. Boniface within easy walking distance, a trip downtown to see the Goldeyes doesn't have to end when the game does. Numerous restaurants and night clubs on both sides of the Red River, which flows by just beyond the outfield wall, await fans who aren't quite ready to call it a night.
